St John the Baptist Primary School
Autumn Term
Autumn term has been full of hard work, laughter and fun! We enjoyed our history lessons, learning all about the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings. In maths we have been trying very hard to understand adding and subtracting two 3-digit numbers. We have also been using songs to help learn our 3-, 4- and 8-times tables. In science we have been understanding how sound works, exploring how it travels and measuring different wavelengths. The cinema trip, the Viking day, our KS2 Christmas performance and pantomime trip were especially memorable!
Spring Term
This term has been filled with hard work, laughter and adventures. We have enjoyed learning about rivers and mountains during our theme topic, as well as researching the local history and uses of the River Tees. During science we spent time classifying and grouping different objects/items and exploring the different states of matter through experiments and investigations. In school we have participated in a variety of activities and trips including: STEM Day, World Book Day, our class trip to AV Dawson, Speed Stacking festival and many more. We are all excited to see what Summer Term brings!
Summer Term
What a fun packed summer term we have had! We have learnt about 3 different ancient civilisations within our theme topic, doing our own research and contrasting and comparing them. We have continued to work hard within our writing lessons, where we practiced improving on our handwriting and sharing our creative ideas. We have enjoyed our RE topics learning about different religious and non-religious worldviews, analysing and interpreting different views. The sunny weather made our promise afternoon even better, where year 3 and 4 enjoyed a picnic on the field and make/flying our very own paper airplanes. It was fun using our PE skills and showing them off in our sports day. Well done everyone - you have worked hard this term and showed excellent resilience and teamwork.
