Class 9 - Mrs Pogue

Britain at War

WOW! What a start to Year 5 we have had. We've had a wonderful term in Class 9. We have made lots of new memories, learnt and experienced lots of new and exciting things. Our topic has been Britain at War, with this we have learnt about both World Wars, the children have learned about the key events and vocabulary and enjoyed a trip to Eden Camp. We have enjoyed swimming this term, with lots of children making good progress towards reaching their 25 metres. In English, the children have written a non-chronological report, setting descriptions and diary entries. In maths, we have developed our knowledge in fractions, number and place value. We have also experienced some lovely trips: a visit to the Care home, the pantomine and a trip to the hospital to sing. The children have taken part in Skip to be Fit too which they loved, we were also asked to decorate a advent window for Norton and Class 9 loved creating a window for this lovely cause.

Frozen Kingdoms

We have had a fantastic term in Class 9! We have enjoyed lots of experiences and trips, such as: Penny the dog, Children's Mental Health week, Ice-skating, Swimming (which some children achieved their 25 metres!), World Book Day and STEM day. We have also been to Hartlepool Sixth Form and enjoyed a Science show and we experienced a tour of the college. We have been busy in our writing this term too, the children have written explanation texts, poetry, instructions and character descriptions! We have developed our skills in maths by learning about Area & Perimeter, Percentages and Statistics. We have experienced a few fun activities in school and during Easter week, with two lots of Prayer Spaces! We are really looking forward to the Summer term in Class 9!
