Class 3 - Mrs Pratt & Mrs Smith

Movers and Shakers

We have settled extremely well into Year 2. Autumn term has been incredibly busy but we have learned so much and had plenty of fun along the way. Alongside our usual lessons, we have managed lots of exciting trips, including Hopetown, the cinema then lunch at Pizza Hut plus the Snow White pantomime.

Coastlines

We cannot believe that we have come to the end of another term and again, so much fun and learning has taken place. We have continued to improve our handwriting skills and our stamina for writing, exploring a range of different purposes for writing and ways to add extra detail, through using expanded noun phrases and conjunctions. In maths, we have continued to develop our number skills even further by learning times multiplication facts for the 2, 5 and 10 times tables, as well as learning about different measures, finding totals of money, different ways to pay and calculating change. We have particularly enjoyed being more creative in our afternoon lessons, spending more time doing practical activities, especially in art when we have explored sketching flowers and creating flowers through different medias, such as playdough, pipe cleaners or card. Not only have we had fun in school, we have enjoyed trips to a sports festival, Snappy Music and, most recently, an amazing day at Saltburn.

Magnificent Monarchs

Summer term has been another busy one and we cannot believe that we have now completed Year 2. We are incredibly proud of our Year 2 children who have all become much more confident and independent and  ready for adventures in Year 3. Alongside learning about the Mighty Monarchs, we have also learnt to read the time, use positional and directional language, developed our sewing skills and explored ways to stay safe in and outside of our homes. In addition to this, we enjoyed coming to school in our pyjamas to learn about the importance of sleep, inviting our parents and adults into class to enjoy learning with us, had a wonderful trip to Raby Castle and had fun visiting The Shack and St. John’s church.
