Class 7 - Miss Tyreman (Y5)

Autumn- Ancient Civilisations

We have had a busy Autumn term in Class 7!

In Science, we explored Earth and Space, learning about planets, stars, and the mysteries of our universe. In History, we stepped back in time to study the Ancient Egyptians—even taking part in a fascinating mummification workshop at the Dorman Museum!

Our DT lessons introduced us to pneumatics, where we designed and built moving models using air pressure. In Computing, we became filmmakers, learning how to shoot and edit our own videos.

The end of the term has been full of the craziness of the the festive season and we've been busy with a trip to the Pantomime, and our own Christmas parties and performances.

What an amazing term it has been—well done, Class 7!

It's been a busy Spring term for class 7 with lots of exciting days/trips! We've enjoyed visiting church, the Tri-golf sporting event where we won silver medals! We have also had some amazing achievements in swimming. As part of our Sow, Grow and Farm Geography topic we visited Sheepfold farm and learned how farms work on a daily basis. As well as this, we have loved learning about the different types of farming in the UK: arable, pastoral and mixed. We've enjoyed exploring our new Computing scheme Purple Mash and building on Netball skills in PE!

We've worked extremely hard in maths this term building up our knowledge on fractions, decimals and percentages and have wrote some fantastic non-chronological reports in English. We are really looking forward to seeing what the Summer term has in store!

Summer- Groundbreaking Greeks

We have had an incredibly busy and exciting Summer Term in Class 7!

Our theme topic, Groundbreaking Greeks, took us on a fascinating journey through Ancient Greece. We explored the lives of the ancient Greeks, learning about their gods and goddesses, daily life, and the origins of the Olympic Games.

In Science, we studied Properties and Changes of Materials, where we investigated reversible and irreversible changes, thermal conductivity, solubility, and evaporation through a range of practical and engaging activities.

Alongside our classroom learning, we enjoyed a fantastic end-of-year visit to the Air Trail at Tees Barrage, researched the countries competing in this year's World Cup, visited church, and proudly performed our class worship for children across the school and our families. We also had a wonderful afternoon at our school Summer Fair, rounding off a memorable and successful term together. We have worked incredibly hard and are ready for the Summer holidays before the craziness of Year 6 begins!
