Class 9 - Mrs Pratt & Mrs Pogue (Y6)

Autumn - Ancient Civilisations

Autumn term has certainly been a busy one but we’ve made a great start to Year 6.
It’s been fun learning all about Ancient Egypt and basing a lot of our writing around this, which included narratives based in Ancient Egypt, instructions and a recount.

We’ve enjoyed several trips such as the Dorman Museum, visiting an author, the mayor’s Christmas carol service, pantomime at Yarm and, not to forget, our memory-making residential to Robinwood.

Spring - Sow, Grow and Farm

This term, we have worked incredibly hard and grown in confidence and determination across all areas of learning. We cannot believe that we now have only one term left of Year 6.

We have enjoyed a number of celebration days, including World Book Day, to share a love of reading; Rock Your Socks, raising awareness on Down Syndrome Day, and our MND awareness walk in the local area, alongside other local schools.

One of the highlights of the term was our trip to Sheepfold Farm, which provided us with a real-life link to our theme Sow, Grow and Farm, and we enjoyed meeting the animals, learning about daily life on a farm and had great fun riding on the tractors.
