From Easter 2026 we will begin our first of 2 phases of refurbishment and building work.
What are we having done?
A full refurbishment and redesign of our SEND Unit – giving us:
A full redesign, extension and refurbishment of the old KS1 area to become a purpose-built Early Years Area for our nursery, 2 year olds and Reception class, including a meeting room and intervention space.
An extension to the back of the KS2 area to create a larger classroom for the Year 1 children.
When will work start?
Brims (the construction company) have a lot of experience working in school settings and will be beginning by setting up their work spaces/compounds and fencing off the areas they will be working in.
Phase 1 will be the refurbishment of the SEND Unit and will be finished ready for September 26 for the pupils to move into there.
Phase 2 will be the Early Years area and classroom extension and will start in the summer holidays with an expected finish date of February 2027.
We are hoping to all be back in the building and to say goodbye to the Portacabins by next February half term.
What can you expect?
We will prioritise the safety of all pupils first – even if it means parents have to walk a little further/park elsewhere/use different routes/entrances to school.
We will try to keep changes to a minimum where we can.
We will keep you fully informed of any changes that we do need to make to routes around school/access/parking.
Finally…
We are really excited that work is finally beginning - it has been a long time in the planning! We know there may be some challenges, but we will work as a team with the contractors, the Local Authority and each other to make sure we overcome them.
