Spring 2023- Coastlines

We have had a fantastic Spring term and learnt a lot of interesting things.  In science we have learned about plant survival and labelled the parts of plants and flowers.  We set up an investigation into seed germination and found that the smallest seeds germinated quickest.  Everyone planted a sunflower seed and they have started to grow! In geography we have learned about coastlines and the human and physical features we can find there.

We had a lovely time dressing up as our favourite book characters for World Book day, we went on a class trip to the Botanical gardens in Durham, we have looked at prayer spaces for Easter and have enjoyed craft activities with our families.

Summer 2023- Magnificent Monarchs

We have had a super busy and fun filled summer term.  We have enjoyed author visits from Liz Million and Simon Hunt which were really funny and inspiring.  We learnt basketball skills with the Huskies and took part in sports day with our family and friends.  We have been on trips to Saltburn, Preston Parka and Norton library and showed great respect and behaviour on all of these.

The teachers are very proud of how hard Y2 worked on their SATs and Y1 on their phonics checks - they did amazing!
We have looked after mealworms in science and watched them change as part of our work on lifecycles and we have looked at English monarchs in History which has been fascinating.  We thought about power and what we would do if we were a monarch for a day.
