Working out in the woodland

We had a brilliant start to school life and Reception.  Everyone is really settled and we all love working indoors and outside in the woodland area too.  We offer a wide range of experiences to our children and know that this helps them to learn about the world and be interested in learning in all that they do.
Autumn 2 - Why do squirrels hide their nuts?

We created artwork for Remembrance Day

We made biscuits for Children in Need Day

We went to Hardwick Park for a Gruffalo Hunt

We went to Maple Care Home to share our Christmas Production - Shine Star Shine

We've had a brilliant half term and the children have enjoyed lots of activities that work to enhance their social, spiritual, moral and cultural selves.  We believe at St John the Baptist School that 'everyone different, everyone loved' and in working within our community and visiting and supporting those in our area we can help to make links with everyone around us.  We learn so much in Reception year, reading, writing and number work as a focus but the children being part of class, school, Ragworth, Stockton and United Kingdom community is special too.

We celebrated Chinese New Year with a dragon dance in school

It's been another busy half term in Reception with lots of visits out and visitors in school.  However we've still been working on our daily Letters and Sounds to help us learn to read and understand what we are reading.  We've been working on our handwriting too.  Lots of number work this half term and we are working within numbers to 20, although some of us are real superstars and have been ordering numbers to 100.  We've loved reading traditional tales and we have learned about the beginning, middle and end of stories as well as naming the characters in the stories too.

Thank you to all the parents who support us every Friday afternoon, popping in to share what we have been learning through the week.

Everyone Different, Everyone Loved
