What a lovely start to the school year we have had in afternoon nursery. All the children have settled brilliantly and they play together so nicely- taking turns and sharing resources in out setting. We have had a busy time completing lots of different activities such as Community Week, learning all about the importance of family and friends, keeping our bodies healthy through exercising and healthy eating and keeping our teeth clean and healthy. We also took part in World Mental Health Day and talked about the importance of being kind to others every day. We finished off our topic by turning our attention to the environment and looking at all the wonderful autumnal changes happening around us. This allowed us to create some lovely artwork and thank God for all the beauty that the autumn seasons brings.

What a lovely second half term we have had in nursery. The children making friends and exploring the changes that have taken place - we love our new wet area where we can get messy!  We have had a busy time completing lots of different activities such as a visit from Elsa for our 'frozen' themed week, a visit from the elf who took us on an elf hunt, we had fun baking gingerbread with Mrs Claus and finally there was lots of smiles when Santa visited for songs and stories. We also celebrated Diwali and Bonfire night by using clay to make diya lamps and glittery firework pictures. We finished off our topic by turning our attention to the environment and looking at all the wonderful wintery changes happening around us. This allowed us to investigate ice and frost as we helped Elsa save the animals from the frozen water tray!

The children were fabulous in the nativity this year which took place in church and was led by Rev. Jenny, the all sang beautiful and looked so cute!

Topic Summary

We have had a very wet but fun start to 2020 as we have learnt all about water, we have used water to paint and help us make colours, we have found out the benefits of drinking water and how water can be used to keep us clean.  The children have played in water and have added colour, bubbles and scents to the water to help them investigate.  They have enjoyed a good range of stories about water and even Rev Jennie and Lana read us a Bible story based around the River Nile as we found out all about Moses.

Our PE lessons this half term have been led by Jordan from Funky Feet and the children have had so much fun learning to balance and move around in different ways and we hope to continue this theme next half term.

We loved having parents and carers in for our Valentine crafts session and all the children were able to talk about love and how they show they love someone.  Our week on St Valentine followed Mental Health and Wellbeing week in which the children talked about being brave.
