Autumn 1: Tremors!
The staff in EMS 2 could not be prouder of how exceptionally well the children have settled into their new class. It has also been lovely to see how the children that are already in EMS 2 have helped the new starters feel at ease in their new environment by helping them follow our Golden Rules: Respect, Resilience and being Ready. This half term the children have loved learning all about volcanoes and earthquakes. Reading all about the history of Pompeii gave children opportunities to produce some fantastic written work and artwork. In PSHE we have focused on friendships, raising our self-esteem and identifying kind and unkind behaviours. The children gave some thought-provoking answers and thoughtful responses in their work. Highlights to the half- term have included learning about the Jewish Festival of Sukkot, learning all about the Rasta religion as part of Black History month and taking part in a dance workshop with Urban Kaos!
Autumn 2: Scrumdiddlyumptious!
We have had a wonderful half-term in EMS 2. Our topic, Scrumdiddlyumptious, taught us all about how chocolate is made around the world and about the importance of Fair Trade. We also read Roald Dahl’s Classic, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The children produced some lovely creative writing based on the setting and characters in the story. We had a truly magical time visiting York’s Chocolate Experience and made our very own chocolate lollies! This term we have also celebrated Children in Need and learnt about Hats of Faith as part of British Values. We have finished the term revisiting the Nativity story and remembering the true meaning of Christmas- The Birth of Christ our Lord.
