Autumn Two Reflection.

Well, what can I say but THANK YOU for all your support this half term and all of the beautiful and tasty treats that have been lovingly made and brought in to share.  It has been a very busy half term but the children have coped so well and have made lots of progress.

We have celebrated lots of things such as Diwali, Bonfire Night, Birthdays, Christmas and a whole load more, we have tasted food from around the world and read stories about food; our favourite being Handa's Surprise!

The children worked so hard in learning songs for our Christmas production and I'm sure you were as proud as we were.

I hope you all have a fantastic Christmas and I look forward to what 2019 brings!

Spring 1

Spring Term One Planning

Spring term has started well and the children have returned ready and raring to go!  This half term we will be finding out all about various forms of transport and we will be hopefully going on a trip.  Please have a read at our planning so you know what your child be doing each week.

I'm sure we will see snow at some point so the planning may change to focus on the weather but I will keep you informed via Marvellous Me.

We will be celebrating  Chinese New Year this half term and hopefully tasting lots of tasty Chinese food.

Take a peep at some of our learning...

Take a peep at some of our learning... 1 Working and building together.
Take a peep at some of our learning... 2 A visit from the dental health team.
Take a peep at some of our learning... 3 Learning to cut with real scissors!
Take a peep at some of our learning... 4 Exploring and talking about the ice, brrrrrr.
Spring 1 has flown by and I can't believe how much the children have accomplished; we have taken part in the fluoride varnish programme, celebrated Chinese New Year, had stories read to us by the librarian and from Richard Drake.  On top of all that we have been learning all about different transport and have created some fantastic models.  The children are really trying hard with their social skills and are becoming confident in knowing and understanding the golden rules.  It has been a pleasure to watch the children plan activities for their own play and this has led to lots more mark making!  We hope you have a fun filled half term and we are looking forward to our next topic all about eggs!

Spring 2

Spring 2 2019

This half term we are starting by reading the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. We will be planting and watching our own beans grow. Throughout this half term we will be looking at growth, learning about the butterfly life cycle and frog life cycle. We will also have chicks in our classroom which we will be able to watch hatch. At the end of this half term we will be learning all about Easter and how this is a special time in the Christian calendar. Miss Tyreman will be teaching in your class this half term alongside Mrs Hammond.

Well, Spring 2 has finished and we have had so much fun learning about eggs, life cycles, changes in plants and the environment.  The children really did love having the chicks and watching them hatch, using their senses to talk about the chicks and creating art work linked to chicks.  We all looked fabulous on World Book Day as we found out about France and dressed in red, white and blue.

The children have been encouraged to mark make and talk about their drawings, write their names, explore the outdoors and find out about Easter.  We have visited the Book Bus and enjoyed a Spring walk to the park with our families.  We hope you have a fantastic Easter break and that the weather is fine and dry.

Summer 1

During Summer term 1 we will be learning all about animals and which animals make super pets, how to look after them and also what they need to survive.  The children will be focusing on lots of different animal groups including sea animals, birds and zoo animals; the children will be taking part in lots of crafts linked to the animals, listening to animal themed stories and singing animal songs.  The older children will be focusing on writing their names, telling their own stories using picture books and we will continue our work on change, thinking about how animals change over time.
