The National Curriculum is a broad and balanced curriculum which is statutory for all schools. We have combined subjects together to teach through a theme approach in school. Each half term, your children will study a theme which incorporates many different subjects together. We believe that this is motivating and interesting for your children. We try to keep a particular focus on health and citizenship throughout each theme, as this is something we feel particularly important to ensure your children are as well prepared as they can be.
We follow an exciting curriculum based on the Cornerstones materials which has inspirational titles to engage and motivate pupils – for example
Bottoms, burps and bile!
Muck, Mess and mixtures
‘We are…’ days
To promote literacy across the curriculum we have a day, each half term, when the whole school follows the same theme and practises their literacy skills in other subjects. The work is then celebrated through displays in the corridors for everyone to see!
Here are our days planned for the academic year 2017/2018
Autumn 1 – We are Readers
Autumn 2– We are Time Travellers
Spring 1 – We are Musicians
Spring 2 – We are Engineers
Summer 1 – We are Athletes
Summer 2 – We are Brilliant
We also have a Promise that while your child is in our school they will get to do certain things.
